An IM Seminar must allow for a minimum of 20 hours of instruction followed by the IM Written Test. Candidates who wish to attend an IM Seminar should either have been appointed as an Official Measurer or have an attended an IM Clinic and have proved experience of Measurement and Equipment Inspection. recommends that the Seminar is held immediately before a major international regatta.
Candidates for IM Status must attend an IM Seminar and pass the written test.
The IM Clinics are part of World Sailing's programme to develop Measurement in target areas of the world.
An IM Clinic must allow for a minimum of 12 hours of instruction followed by a practical measurement session. There are no particular requirements for candidates who wish to attend an IM Clinic but it is advisable that they have racing experience. World Sailing recommends that an IM Clinic is held immediately before a national regatta.
