Information about hosting a World Sailing Seminar or Clinic is available here.
All candidates who are appointed as International Judges must have attended an World Sailing Judging Seminar and passed the written test.
A World Sailing Judging Seminar must allow for a minimum of 16 hours of instruction followed by the World Sailing International Judges Test. Candidates are expected to meet the standards detailed in the Pre-requisites for Attending an International Judges Seminar document. This includes being a certified National Judge or have successfully completed a World Sailing Judging Clinic.
Candidates who fail the written examination may take a new test but not within 6 months of the first one, except in special circumstances.
In accordance with Regulation 31.12 seminar attendance and successful test pass are mandatory criteria for first appointment of IJ status. The only context a candidate may sit the test for the first time is within the context of a World Sailing Judging Seminar
Candidates who meet the criteria for re-sit in Regulation 31.12.4 (a) and would like to arrange to re-sit the test, please contact the Executive Office
The World Sailing Judging Clinics are part of World Sailing's programme to develop Judging in target areas of the world.
A World Sailing Judging Clinic must allow for a minimum of two days instruction. Candidates should have some experience of Judging. Clinics are based on the World Sailing International Judging Manual and a knowledge of the Racing Rules of Sailing is required. Attendance at a Judging Clinic does not meet the criteria for application for IJ status.
